What Causes Eczema?

Triggers and Irritants

Eczema is a common inflammatory skin condition that effects one in five people in Singapore1.

This chronic, itchy skin condition is susceptible to numerous types of irritants and allergens triggered by genetics and environmental factors such as stress, food, fragrances, weather, dust, grass pollen and others2 3.

The Itch-scratch Cycle

Eczema causes skin to itch which triggers the tendency to scratch. This vicious itch-scratch cycle further damages the skin as it causes breakages, exposing the skin to infections.

What Are Ceramides?

Protecting the skin's natural barrier is essential

People who suffer from eczema usually have reduced levels of Ceramide, which are essential in supporting the skin barrier and retaining moisture. Low ceramide weakens skin barrier, allowing moisture to escape from the skin, leading to dry skin conditions5.

QV Dermcare contains 3:1:1 ceramide dominant molar ratio which is clinically tested to manage eczema symptoms5.
